The South Shelby Chamber of Commerce and Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce announced a collaborative partnership following both organizations’ approval this week, according to Dec. 8 press release.

The release states the two organizations will work together on a wide array of programs for their respective investors and communities.

“We’re pleased to be able to collaborate with the South Shelby Chamber’s volunteer leadership, members and their staff by offering program collaboration through our Greater Shelby Chamber’s expanded program of work and providing additional opportunities for both organizations,” said Lisa McMahon, Greater Shelby Chamber 2015 chair.

McMahon explained that this collaborative work, including the collaborations with the Calera and Montevallo chambers, follows the chamber’s ShelbyOne initiative, a five-year strategic plan.

ShelbyOne calls for increased collaboration to ensure quality employment, to retain existing businesses and to continue moving all of Shelby County forward.

“On behalf of the South Shelby Chamber’s Board of Directors, we believe this expanded partnership with the Greater Shelby Chamber will be extremely beneficial to our South Shelby Chamber members and communities,” said Daniel Holmes, audience and brand development director and the 2016 South Shelby Chamber chair.

Holmes said this collaboration will lead to increased opportunities for members of the South Shelby Chamber, including additional access to business information, workshops and countywide visibility.

He said those opportunities, coupled with the opportunity to participate in the workforce development and public policy programs, will prove valuable and worthwhile for all the businesses in the six communities represented by the chamber.

“This is a win-win for everyone, and we’re excited about the future opportunities,” Holmes said.

The South Shelby Chamber, with more than 250 members, works to support stakeholders for the stability and growth of the southern region of Shelby County by providing services that cultivate economic expansion and growth.

The Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, with close to 1,100 members, works to assist in building a strong Shelby County economy by nurturing business, addressing business needs and developing a business environment that is attractive and stable.
