ALABASTER–The Thompson Lady Warriors kept their stellar season going on Tuesday, Dec. 8 after using a solid second half performance to defeat the Helena lady Huskies 60-48 at home.

Much of the first half included a back-and-forth game between both teams and the Lady Warriors took a 30-26 lead into halftime.

Thompson head coach Josh Golden gave credit to Helena and first-year head coach Alan Skinner on making the first half difficult on Thompson.

“You’ve got to give credit to Helena,” said Golden. “I thought they played really well and coach Skinner is doing a fantastic job and they’re so much improved from a year ago.”

The second half was a different story for the Lady Warriors as they stifled the Helena offense to pull away in the second half.

Thompson was led by Jordan Lenoir’s 21 points and Kahyanne Bolton also added 12 points for the Lady Warriors in the win.

“I think we did do a better job in the second half,” said Golden. “We were up by four in the first half and got it up to 20 in the second half and did a better job of getting into our stuff and doing what we want to do. I felt like we did what we needed to do in the second half to win the basketball game.”

With the win, Thompson improved to 8-1 overall on the season.
