VINCENT—To create a special place for Vincent Elementary School students to read and participate in outdoor educational activities, First Christian Church of Birmingham cleaned up the school’s courtyard Dec. 5.

More than 40 volunteers from First Christian were there to pitch in and create the nice space for VES. The following week, students enjoyed completing educational activities in the courtyard.

Deana Floyd, a first grade teacher, and her daughter Lauren, a fifth grade student at VES, had the idea of turning the courtyard into a winter wonderland for the Christmas program Dec. 8. Parents were able to walk through the courtyard and to see the newly transformed courtyard.
