PELHAM— Santa Stops have been a Pelham tradition for many years, and Santa Claus plans to visit all the communities in the city Dec. 24 from 4 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Five of the fire department’s engines will travel a different route, making about 30 stops. Battalion Chief Mike Reid said they will spend about five to 10 minutes at each stop to give residents the opportunity to take photos with Santa.

The Santa Stops tradition began last year, according to Reid. He said they used to have Santa travel down each road in Pelham without stopping and giving kids the opportunity to see him up close.

“Last year was the first year we did the stops, it was very successful and we had lots of positive response from our citizens,” Reid said. “Just having that up close and personal opportunity to see Santa and the firefighters is important.”

The schedule may be altered if the Pelham Fire Department must respond to an emergency call. The department recommends allowing a 30-minute window for each of the listed times.

If the Santa Stop sign is gone, Santa has already visited and can be found at another stop down the list. The following are tentative Santa arrival times for each of Pelham’s routes:
