William A. Gould. The Scotch miner William A. (Billy) Gould (1830-1912), was a prominent figure in the development of the Alabama coal industry.
During the Civil War,Gould with his partners Charles and Fred Woodson, shippedup to 75 tons of coal a day from a mine at Helena to the SelmaArsenal. (Contributed/City of Helena Museum)
