CHELSEA – A crash involving a tractor-trailer and a train on the morning of Jan. 7 has blocked Shelby County 47 at the intersection of Shelby County 39 in Chelsea.

No injuries were reported from the crash, which happened at about 9:30 a.m., Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Dep. Debbie Sumrall said. The driver of the tractor-trailer was the vehicle’s sole occupant.

SCSO deputies and Chelsea Fire and Rescue responded to the crash.

“Motorists are encouraged to find an alternate route until the accident scene has been completely cleared,” an SCSO press release read. “Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”

The road re-opened at about noon Jan. 7 after crews spent several hours clearing it.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
