PELHAM— A Bessemer woman was apprehended Dec. 2 by the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force after allegedly distributing heroin near the 2100 block of Pelham Parkway, according to Lt. Clay Hammac.
Thirty-one-year-old Laura Speigner, who lists an address on Hearn Avenue, was charged with one felony count of distribution of a controlled substance.
Hammac said the initial incident allegedly took place Jan. 20, 2015, but the warrant for her arrest was not issued until May 2015. She eluded arrest until she was taken into custody Dec. 2, according to Hammac.
Speigner was released from the Shelby County Jail Dec. 19 after she posted a $10,000 bond.
Distribution of a controlled substance is a Class B felony. According to Alabama state law, the suspect could spend up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
