VANDIVER—Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the scene of a vehicle wreck with reportedly serious injuries on Highway 25 at Lake View Circle on Jan. 14.

Deputies responded to a report of a wreck and fire at around 1:05 p.m., SCSO deputy Debbie Sumrall said.

“(The vehicle) ran off the road into the ravine, and then the fire erupted while the vehicle was in the ravine,” Sumrall said.

The driver was pulled from the burning vehicle, and at around 1:45 p.m., Lifesaver was en route to transport the victim from the scene of the wreck.

According to Sumrall, the victim was “unresponsive” when extracted from the wreckage.

“There’s just one victim… at this time,” Sumrall said. “Generally if Lifesaver is called, there are serious injuries.”
