Friends of Columbiana Public Library plan events

The very active Friends of the Columbiana Public Library is a support group which provides extra programs and money to the library.
FOL meets the third Tuesday of every month in the library’s meeting room.
There are two classifications of membership: Active and inactive.
Active members participate in programs and meetings while inactive provide financial support and receive email information.
Dues are $5 per year and new members are welcomed and needed, active and inactive.
Each month the FOL presents a free, themed children’s program which provides a story, craft and refreshments, ages 3-10.
Spring 2016 programs are: Valentine, Feb. 4, 4 p.m.; St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 4 p.m.; Miss Shelby County Princess Party featuring Miss SC 2016 Hayley Barber, April 21, 4:30 p.m., wear your princess dresses; Star Wars party, May 19, 4 p.m., wear your Star Wars costumes!
The spring fundraiser will be a Bake and Book Sale Thursday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Set-up will be Wednesday, May 4 by FOL members.
Please bring donated books to library. Small paperback books cost 25 cents, large paperbacks cost 50 cents and hardback books cost $1.
Books will be organized by categories and all proceeds will go back to the Columbiana Library.
Delicious baked goods handmade by FOL members will be for sale for Mother’s Day, which is May 8.
Additional weekly/monthly programs sponsored by the library are: Storytime with Ms. Jennie, Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m.; Loose Stitches Knitting, Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to noon; Quilts for Kids, Second Saturdays, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
A Master Gardener Adult Program will be Feb. 2 from 2-3 p.m. There will also be a movie night will free pizza on Thursday, Feb. 25 from 5:30-8 p.m.
The library is open: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:50 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7:50 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.; and closed on Sunday.
The annual FOL meeting will be Tuesday, June 21 at 1 p.m., where lunch will be served and open to public to learn about the FOL.
New officers will be installed and new members can join.
