COLUMBIANA – A 37-year-old Pelham man, a 28-year-old Alabaster woman and a 29-year-old Hoover man are facing up to life in prison after they were arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana in Alabaster.

The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested Jameel Shakir Gray, who lists an address on Village Lane in Pelham, Eboni Camille Hale, who lists an address on Sequoia Trail in Alabaster, and Mark Alexander Lewis, who lists an address on Lake Point Court in Hoover, on Jan. 14 and charged them each with felony counts of trafficking marijuana and first-degree possession of marijuana and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Trafficking marijuana is a Class A felony, and carries a maximum sentence of life in prison upon conviction.

According to the suspects’ arrest warrants, they allegedly were found to be in possession of between 2.2 and 100 pounds of marijuana while on Sequoia Trail in Alabaster on Jan. 13. The marijuana was not intended for personal use, their warrants claim.

Gray and Lewis were both on probation at the time of their Jan. 13 arrest after both pleaded guilty on April 1, 2014, to misdemeanor unlawful imprisonment charges tied to a 2011 incident. Both currently are being held in the Shelby County Jail without bond awaiting bond revocation hearings in Shelby County Circuit Court.

Hale is being held in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $1.51 million.

The suspects are scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing in Shelby County District Court on Feb. 17 at 8:30 a.m.
