NORTH SHELBY—The North Shelby Library is sending love to Children’s Hospital this Valentine’s Day. Since Feb. 1, kids have been hard at work creating Valentine’s Day cards in the library’s Children’s Department.

A card making station has been set up, with paper, glue, markers and more materials to create and decorate Valentine’s Day cards.

“Kids can come and make simple little Valentines,” NSL Children’s Librarian Savannah Kitchens said.

Last year, kids created more than 250 Valentine’s Day cards for Children’s Hospital. Kitchens said the project has been well received again this year and a number of kids have stopped by to make cards.

Additionally, there is no set template for the Valentine’s Day cards, so kids have put their creativity to work. Kitchens said each card has been unique.

“They love it, we don’t have a preset (template), they can create whatever they want,” Kitchens said. “We’ve gotten a really great response.”

The card making booth will be available in the Children’s Department through Feb. 11. After that, all cards will be delivered to Children’s Hospital.
