FROM STAFF REPORTS PELHAM— The Pelham Police Department charged 16-year-old Charleston Wells and 17-year-old Ahmad Johnson with felony charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree theft of property Feb. 12, according to a Feb. 16 press release.

Early the morning of Jan. 1, the Pelham Police Department was notified of the robbery of an individual in the Holland Lakes subdivision, according to the release.

The release stated that a description of the suspects’ vehicle was broadcast to responding patrol units and was located as it was entering Interstate 65 northbound from County Road 52.

A pursuit of the vehicle ensued before the vehicle was lost in Bessemer, according to the release. Investigators from the Pelham Police Department were able to develop suspects in the robbery.

Warrants for Wells, of Bessemer, and Johnson, of Birmingham, were obtained Feb. 12. Both teens were charged as adults, according to the Feb. 16 report.

The suspects are currently being held on bonds totaling $255,000.

First-degree robbery is a Class B felony and second-degree theft of property is a Class C felony. According to Alabama state law, Class B felonies carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and Class C felonies carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
