PELHAM— Spring is often considered a time for remodeling, landscaping and upgrading as residents begin to take advantage of warmer weather.

For those in the market to build or remodel their homes, the Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders is hosting an event to showcase professional home services and products.

The sixth annual Home Building and Remodeling Showcase will be at the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena March 18-20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

“It’s important to put our members in front of these people,” said Sarah Drexler, director of communications. “This is a great way to meet that plumber that you have been looking for, who you can trust to do good work.”

The show will feature about 120 booths on the main ice rink, showcasing builders, remodelers, associate members, plumbers, lighting companies and more. This show is also unique in that it focuses purely on remodeling and building rather than décor, Drexler said.

The event will also feature a new area in the ballroom this year called Grillin’ and Chillin’ for outdoor kitchen, pool, fencing, landscaping and other similar items. These booths will be larger, according to Drexler, so the businesses can bring in large items to showcase.

“We are hoping to draw a new crowd of people who are interested in outdoor remodeling,” Drexler said. “We are kind of giving them their own special area.”

Seminars will be held on Saturday and Sunday with topics ranging from gardening to up cycling to planning building projects. The Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders is also partnering with Southern Living magazine.

Half of the seminar room will provide space for Southern Living to showcase their outdoor furniture line and they will also host a couple seminars. HGTV’s Lucy is hosting a seminar on her handmade jewelry design as well.

In past years, Drexler said the event has drawn more than 3,000 people, and they are hoping to see more this year with the addition of the Grillin’ and Chillin’ area.

“Our vendors say that they get more quality leads from this show than any other show that they do,” Drexler said. “They really look forward to it.”

Tickets are $7 per day, and children under 12 are free. For more information, contact Linda Gulsby at 912-7000, email lindag@gbahb.com or visit Birminghambuilder.com and Facebook.com/BuildingRemodelingExpo.
