HHS boys soccer ranked No. 1 in latest poll

HELENA–The Helena High School boys soccer team has gotten off to a quick start just a few weeks into the 2016 season, and the Huskies have been rewarded with a top ranking in the statewide poll.
Eurosportscoreboard.com updates both boys and girls soccer rankings weekly throughout each class in the state, and with a current overall record of 5-1-1, the Huskies sit atop the Class 4A-5A rankings.
The Huskies only loss of the season came in a hard-fought match against the Oak Mountain Eagles, who also happen to hold the current No. 1 ranking in Class 7A with a record of 7-0-2. Oak Mountain defeated Helena 1-0 on Feb. 16.
Helena began the year by winning the Silver division of the Lakeshore Shootout Tournament by defeating the Loveless Academic Magnet Program 5-2, Guntersville 2-0 and Shades Valley 10-1.
Up to this point in the season, Helena has also defeated fourth-ranked Sylacauga 1-0 and tied Chelsea 1-1. The Hornets are currently ranked fifth in the Class 6A rankings.
Helena is competing in Class 4A-5A Section 7 where they will face Calera, Jemison and Montevallo in area play this season.
