ALABASTER – Locals looking to pick up some good reads and homemade baked goods will have a chance to do so at Alabaster’s Albert L. Scott Public Library next month.

The Friends of the Albert L. Scott Library are holding their annual spring book and bake sale from April 8-10 at the library, which is located at 100 Ninth St. N.W.

During the sale, all paperback and children’s books will be 50 cents and hardback books will be $1.

The Friends will also have homemade cookies and brownies available for sale.

On April 8, only Friends of the Library members will be admitted to the sale for a special preview night from 5-7 p.m. Membership to the Friends organization costs as little as $10, said group volunteer Sarah Jones.

The sale will then be open to the public from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, and from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, April 10.

On Sunday, shoppers will be able to fill a brown paper bag with as many books as they can for $6.

All proceeds from the event will be used to benefit the programs and services the Alabaster Library provides throughout the year, Jones said.

To join the Friends, or to volunteer to help with the sale or provide baked goods, contact Joan Rickels at 620-1224 or email bjoanrickels@aol.com.
