FROM STAFF REPORTS

Shelby County will host a free landfill day at the Shelby County Landfill on April 2 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The landfill is located at 401 Landfill Road, just off Alabama 70 between Columbiana and Calera.

All participants must be unloaded and exited by 3:30 p.m.

In an effort to assist county residents with their spring clean-up projects, the Shelby County Commission has designated this as a free day to dispose of yard and household debris.

Shelby County Development Services-Landfill Division asks that residents cover and secure their loads while traveling to the landfill to prevent litter and trash from being deposited along the roadside.

The free day is for Shelby County residents only. All commercial, business or out-of-county customers will be charged the standard rates.
