ALABASTER – Thompson High School soccer team midfielder Allison Singleterry will continue her career at Auburn University – Montgomery after inking a scholarship with the Warhawks during a March 18 ceremony in the THS library.

Singleterry signed with AUM while surrounded by family, friends and teammates, becoming the most recent THS athlete to sign to play at the next level during a school year loaded with scholarship signings.

“Her commitment, her passion, her sacrifice for her sport is being rewarded today with such a great academic and athletic opportunity at AUM,” said THS soccer coach Nathan Button. “We are all very impressed with how much Allison has developed as a player at THS. Allison is by far one of our best players with the ball at her feet.

“She’s very creative, she’s crafty, she’s smart, she has excellent footwork and she is very difficult to defend,” Button added. “As she has developed in her career, she now has a fantastic shot that is very dangerous all the time, and she is a driving force in our attack.”

Singleterry has been a member of the THS soccer team since her freshman year. During her career, she has recorded 12 goals and 10 assists, has helped her team win the Island Cup Soccer Tournament, record back-to-back Birmingham Metro Tournament victories and make the playoffs each year.

The THS girls’ soccer team has been ranked in the top 10 in the state each year she has been on the team.

In addition to her on-field prowess, Singleterry also has the ability to raise her teammates up, Button said.

“On and off the field, one of the best things about Allison is her attitude and personality. She always has a smile on her face,” Button said. “She always finds a way to find positives, no matter what it is. It’s great that she’s a fantastic soccer player, but to be able to bring fun and happiness to any situation, that’s a great gift.

“I am both honored and privileged to have the opportunity to announce Allison’s commitment to AUM. I’m looking to following everything you do in the future,” Button added.
