PELHAM— The owner of a Pelham-based advertising and promotion company, John Turner, recently announced a partnership between Turner Promotions and The Jimmie Hale Mission in Birmingham.

Mississippi Alabama Line, a division of Turner Promotions, recently started carrying officially licensed collegiate products for seven SEC teams. For every item purchased through the end of year, Turner said he is donating $1.95 to the Jimmie Hale Mission.

“I try to give back to the community as much as I can,” Turner said. “I feel like the good Lord has blessed me, so I think it’s important to give back.”

Turner said he has been donating privately to The Jimmie Hale Mission for a few years now and has met Executive Director Tony Cooper through the Greater Shelby County and Hoover chambers.

Being familiar with the organization, knowing what it does in the community and understanding what it stands for, Turner said he thought it would be a great way to give back.

“My intentions were to do it for Thanksgiving and Christmas time, and (Cooper) said let’s do it in Easter,” Turner said of the new partnership.

Then Turner said he decided to continue supporting The Jimmie Hale Mission throughout the rest of the year rather than ending it after Easter.

Turner said other teams may be available upon request, and all orders also come with a free Mississippi Alabama Line adult T-shirt. Local delivery in the Birmingham area is also available.

This fundraising partnership began March 1, according to Turner, and has been going well so far.

The Jimmie Hale Mission is a Christian-based, nonprofit organization that aids homeless and hurting men, women and children in Jesus’ name. The mission includes a homeless shelter for men, a shelter for women and children, after-school Bible clubs, recovery programs, learning centers and thrift stores.
