PELHAM— The Pelham Board of Education recently approved the 2016-2017 school calendar at its March 21 meeting. This year, the calendar contains an additional week off during the month of October, but does not include potential weather make-up days.

Pelham City School students will start school Aug. 11 and will complete the school year May 25, 2017.

According to Communications Manager Nicole Knight, the addition of a fall break, which will be Oct. 10-14, allows the school system to move from Valley Elementary School into the new Pelham Ridge Elementary School building.

The fall break utilizes the potential weather make-up days, but Knight said PCS is exploring online make-up opportunities for students if it becomes necessary.

Students will have a three-day break for Thanksgiving, from Nov. 23-25 and will be dismissed at 1 p.m. Dec. 16 for Christmas break.

Spring break is scheduled for March 27, 2017 through March 31, 2017.
