COLUMBIANA – A Shelby County Master Gardener course will begin Aug. 10 at the Shelby County Extension Office.

The course will be held Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with lunch from noon to 1 p.m., through Oct. 26.

Course topics include: Soils and plant nutrition, plant physiology, entomology, plant pathology, care of landscape plants, landscape design, plant selection, lawn care, weed identification, houseplants, vegetable gardening, home orchards and plant propagation.

Certification requirements are to complete the Master Gardener course (same year) and to volunteer 50 hours of service to the community through approved projects.

The class is limited to 25 members.

The Shelby County Extension Office is located at 54 Kelley Lane in Columbiana.
