Charlotte Phillips Lee, age 74, of Birmingham, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 17.

She was a loving mother, sister, and friend, but most importantly, her passion was her grandchildren. She was called Grandmommy by some and GranGran by others, but she loved each and every one of them with all of her heart.

Charlotte had a wonderful sense of humor and was strong in her commitment to her children and their families.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Phillips, Sr.

Survivors include Charlotte’s two daughters, Michele Morris (Philip) and Jenni Goolsby (Jim); one son, Phillip Lee (Kim); seven grandchildren, Laura Lee Grusin (Adam), Garrett Lee, Tanner Lee, Melissa Morris, John Curtis Goolsby, Marshall Lee, and Isabelle Goolsby; one great-grandchild, Elijah Grusin; one brother, John W. Phillips, Jr. (Pam); uncles; aunts; one niece, Nancy Phillips; and several cousins.

Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20 at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. The private family graveside service will be Saturday, May 21 at Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the charity of your choice.
