SCBOE appoints new assistant principals

The Shelby County Board of Education approved new assistant principals for Shelby County High School and Helena Intermediate School at their May meeting Thursday night.

Daniel Richards, who served this year as the assistant principal at Shelby County High School on an interim basis, was appointed to fill the role as a permanent position.  Richards, who has 12 years of experience in public education, earned a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education at Troy University and a master’s degree in instructional leadership at the University of Montevallo.

Haley Franks, the current assistant principal at Montevallo Elementary School, will assume the same role at Helena Intermediate.  Franks, who has 13 years of experience as an educator, received a bachelor’s degree in elementary and collaborative education from Troy University and master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Montevallo.
