Llewellyn Sims Walton, 78 of Columbiana, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 20.
Llewellyn graduated from Alabama State Teachers College in Montevallo. She began her teaching career in Columbiana Elementary School before moving to the Florida school system where she retired. After retirement, she returned to her beloved Columbiana.
Llewellyn was preceded in death by husband, Emery Walton; parents, Mark W. Sims and Effie Gardner Sims; daughter, Selina Thomas Watson; brothers, Mark W. “Billy” Sims and Johnny Walt Sims; and sister, Grace Sims Crawford Smock.
She is survived by her brother, Joe David Sims of Temple, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Barbara Walton Cutler (Bill) of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Sandi Sims of Eufaula, and Kheng Sims of Tampa, Fla.; son, Frank W. Thomas (Suree) of Ashby, Mass.; step-son, Robert Christopher Walton (Becky) of Memphis, Tenn.; step-daughter, Laura Ready (Tim) of St. Petersburg, Fla.; grandchildren, Walter Thomas, Grace Thomas, Mariah Watson Sansone, Bethany Walton, Rachel Walton, Kaitlin Ready and Kylie Ready; and by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Columbiana at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 26. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Alabama National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Columbiana Building Fund.
