ALABASTER – Locals looking for a free way to enjoy the summer while catching some family friendly movies will have several chances to do so at Alabaster’s Veterans Park over the next several weeks.

Alabaster’s summer Movies in the Park series began on June 10 with Disney’s movie “Inside Out,” and will continue every other week until late July at the park off Alabama 119 south.

All Movies in the Park events are free to the public, and attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair to sit on, snacks and drinks.

The movies, which are projected onto a large inflatable movie screen, will begin at dusk each Friday night, which is usually at about 8 p.m.

As with all city Parks and Recreation events, the Movies in the Park nights will be canceled in the event of lightning or severe weather. The city’s rain-out line is 378-4055.

The following movies will be shown on the following nights:

-June 24: Shaun the Sheep Movie,” Rated PG

-July 8: “Max,” Rated PG

-July 22: Disney’s “The Good Dinosaur,” Rated PG
