HELENA–The Helena High School softball program is coming off an impressive season, finishing as the Class 5A state runner-ups and younger children who are interesting in learning the game and seeing what makes HHS softball successful can participate in an upcoming summer softball camp.

The camp is scheduled for July 12-13 from 9 a.m. to noon each day and is open to upcoming 1-7 graders.

Helena softball head coach Heidi Kouveras, other coaching staff members and current team members will be at the camp to provide instruction to players of all ability through a fun camp atmosphere.

The goal of the camp is to provide campers with better knowledge and fundamental drills in hitting, fielding, pitching and catching.

The cost of the camp is $75 and payment is due by July 1. Checks should be made payable to HHS Softball.

Athletes participating in the camp should report to the Helena High School softball field with equipment such as a glove, bat, helmet and cleats.

The deadline for registration for the camp is July 1. However, registration received after the deadline may not receive a camp T-shirt, but will still be allowed to participate in the camp.

The main contact for the camp is Kouveras, who can be reached at Hkouveras@shelbyed.org.

A registration form and more information can be found at Podcasts.shelbyed.k12.al.us/hlhs-athletics/summer-camps/.
