COLUMBIANA – A Shelby County Master Gardener course will be held Aug. 10 through Nov. 2 at the Shelby County Extension Office in Columbiana.

The class will meet on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (noon to 1 p.m. lunch) and is limited to 25 participants.

Certification requirements are to complete the Master Gardener course (same year) and volunteer 50 hours of service to the community through approved projects.

Course topics include: Soils and Plant Nutrition, Plant Physiology, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Care of Landscape Plants, Landscape Design, Plant Selection, Lawn Care, Weed Identification, Houseplants, Vegetable Gardening, Home Orchards and Plant Propagation.
