Warrior Day set for Aug. 6

ALABASTER – Fans of Warrior teams of all ages will have a chance to get a sneak peak at the upcoming season on Aug. 6, as the city is hosting its Warrior Day jamboree at Larry Simmons Stadium.
Throughout the day, youth, middle school and high school teams, cheerleaders and the Thompson High School marching band will take the field to showcase what they will offer this fall.
“It’s really a day to showcase all the kids from city league all the way through high school,” said Kim Kielbasa, who is working to organize the event.
The event will kick off at 9 a.m. at the stadium by showcasing Alabaster’s city league football players and cheerleaders. Cost of admission is $5 for adults, $2 for students and children in kindergarten and younger are free. All proceeds will benefit the THS football program.
After the youth league showcases, the event will feature Thompson Middle School teams and cheerleaders leading up to the Thompson High School varsity football showcase beginning at 1:15 p.m.
Concessions and vendors will be set up at the event throughout the day.
The following groups will take the field at the following times:
8:55 a.m. – Youth cheer intro
9-9:20 a.m. –Youth football game 1
9:25-9:30 a.m. – Youth cheer intro
9:35-9:55 a.m. – Youth football game 2
10-10:05 a.m. – Youth cheer intro
10:10-10:30 a.m. – Youth football game 2
10:55-11 a.m. – Seventh grade cheer intro
11-11:20 a.m. – Seventh grade scrimmage
11:25-11:30 – Eighth grade cheer intro
11:30-11:50 a.m. – Eighth grade scrimmage
11:55 a.m.-noon – Ninth grade cheer intro
Noon-12:25 p.m. – Ninth grade scrimmage
12:30-12:55 p.m. – THS marching band
1-1:10 p.m. – Varsity cheer intro
1:15 p.m. – THS varsity football scrimmage
