CHELSEA – Lemak Health and Drayer Physical Therapy in Chelsea held a dual ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 25 to celebrate the official opening of their businesses that share a building at 104 Chelsea Point Drive.

The ceremony saw a turnout of at least 50 people ranging from members of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, mayoral candidate Dale Neuendorf and so many others of the Chelsea community.

“We are just so grateful that so many people came out for this event,” said current City Councilwoman Juanita Champion. “We are proud to have both of these businesses here because business in Chelsea means so much to us.”

Lemak has seven locations around the state of Alabama including the center in Chelsea and is currently in a period of growth as they are rebranding their company, changing Lemak Sports Medicine and Orthopedics to Lemak Health.

“Our practice has physician specialists that see patients with various conditions from our innovative joint replacement program to non-operative regenerative medicine,” said Lemak Health Chief Executive Officer Matthew Lemak. “We want our patients to know that we provide width and depth to their healthcare needs.”

Lemak also said the decision to rebrand came after seeing their client base grow to include ages 8-88.

“Being in the city of Chelsea is phenomenal, we have a lot of connections in this area and we certainly appreciate the outpouring of support and welcoming that we have received from the community,” Lemak said.

It wasn’t just a ribbon cutting that they were celebrating at the ceremony, but also the hiring of Dr. Calvin Spellmon, who is the newest operating partner of Lemak Health and will be running the Chelsea clinic.

Spellmon will also be working with athletes at Chelsea Middle and High School assisting them with any needs that they may have to prevent injury or help if they have been injured.

In the last year Lemak Health has opened the new clinic in Chelsea as well as one in Prattville and has plans to relocate its Birmingham location to Grandview Medical Center, which Lemak said had been a big help and partner to them.

Drayer Physical Therapy has locations in seven different states including 22 in the state of Alabama.

They tend to focus on physical therapy revolving around orthopedics, neurological therapy, sports medicine and pediatric therapy.

During the ceremony regional vice president Tracy Causey said that it is great to be in Chelsea and their mission is to give back to the patients as well as the community.

Drayer Physical Therapy is open from 7a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to 5p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. To schedule an appointment call their office at 453-9400.
