CHELSEA – A new boutique has made its way to Chelsea and just opened its doors on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Located at 16161 Highway 280, suite 2, 2 Girls and a Dog Boutique offers Chelsea a new local children’s clothing store. The location is in a prime spot, right next to Walmart and directly across U.S. 280 from Sonic.

The boutique, which has been online for the last year, opens its first brick and mortar location, giving parents a place to find all types of clothing for babies, children and tweens.

Popular brands such as L’ovedbaby and KicKee Pants are offered, and the store specializes in matching twin outfits, matching brother sister outfits, birthday outfits, holiday outfits and smocked outfits for all occasions.

“Our biggest goal is having items that I know my own kids would wear and be comfortable in because that’s what most moms and dads are looking for,” said storeowner Jordan Gilliam.

Gilliam said the interesting name of the boutique came from her two twin daughters and their pet Yorkie.

“I had twin daughters a year and a half ago, so I started the online store to be able to spend time with them and bring in some money on the side,” she said. “Now they’ll be able to come up here and join me at work.”

Gilliam has toys and a play station not only for her daughters to play with, but also for all kids that come in, so parents can look around and shop, while their kids have a place to play with toys.

The store not only offers clothes, but also has shoes up to size three, ribbons and bows, crib sheets, purses and other kid and tween essentials.

“I just don’t want people in Chelsea to have to go all the way over the mountain to shop for their kids,” Gilliam said. “I want to get word out because I’d hate to have someone drive all the way over the mountain to get something I have right here because they haven’t heard of me.”

Gilliam also started hosting ‘Ladies Night Out’ in Chelsea last month at the Chelsea Community Center, which she said would become a monthly event, but instead of taking place at the community center; it will now take place at her new store.

“We will be partnering with ‘Somewhere in Time’ next door to put on ‘Ladies Night Out,’” she said. “Not only will we be doing that, but we will also be doing some holiday get-togethers.”

‘Ladies Night Out’ is an event that brings together several local businesses to one location and offers the people of Chelsea a chance to come out and see what each of those local stores, or business can offer.

Gilliam said the event will take place in her store as well as out in the parking lot, and the next scheduled event is Monday, Sept. 26 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

“We are going to be getting in new merchandise weekly so we will always have new items for customers, who should check back often to see what we have,” she said.

The boutique will also offer monogramming and vinyl, whether it be on something you want to bring in to have done or something you buy from the store.

Gilliam also said with any purchase, kids get to pick a small prize out of a treasure box full of goodies.

“It’s very crazy, I didn’t think all of this would happen so quickly, but the opportunity presented itself and now I have a store,” she said.

2 Girls and a Dog Boutique is open Monday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and for more information on them you can visit their website 2girlsandadog.com or their Facebook page facebook.com/2GirlsandaDogBoutique/.
