HELENA–Batting cages, a basketball court, a full-size volleyball court, a turf field and more will soon occupy a nearly 15,000 square-foot facility located at 202 Rolling Mill St. in Helena.

The large warehouse was previously used for Loading Dock South in Helena but after the business moved, No Limits Fitness Sports Academy owner Blake Matthews saw it as a perfect time to move into the facility and begin offering CrossFit classes and fill the warehouse with top-of-the-line equipment.

Matthews previously owned a gym in Vestavia but four years ago he moved and expanded into the Helena area.

In July, Matthews moved from the Riverwoods area over to the warehouse facility on Rolling Mill St. where he has big plans to transform the warehouse into an all-in-one space that will offer more than just CrossFit.

The space may be enjoyed by all, but specifically young athletes and sports teams in the area will benefit the most at No Limits.

“I love working with kids,” said Matthews. “I love training and working with them and I went out and got feedback from the community and I decided to invest in the batting cages because baseball seems to be a big thing here.”

The plan for No Limits Fitness Sports Academy is to offer individuals and teams a space and covered facility to hold practices, skills training and more without having to drive across town.

The facility will have a near full-size basketball court, five 70-foot batting cages, 10 35-foot batting cages, a full-size volleyball court, a turf field for soccer and sled drills and the equipment to continue CrossFit classes.

Matthews believes Helena is an area that was in need of a facility with so much of the youth being involved in sports.

“From what we’ve seen, there’s not really anybody in the state that fits what all we’re going to do in the same place,” said Matthews. “We’re trying to set apart from everybody else and have it all-in-one.”

Matthews said he is still working out pricing details, but once the batting cages are installed within the next few weeks, customers can call to reserve time slots by the hour and half-hour.

No Limits is currently open for CrossFit classes at 5:15 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturday a yoga class is offered at 8:30 a.m. as well as a CrossFit class at 9:30 a.m.
