ALABASTER – Several roads throughout Alabaster soon will be repaved, after the City Council awarded a bid for the projects during a Sept. 12 meeting.
Council members voted unanimously during the meeting to award a $465,901 bid to the Wiregrass Construction Company to repave a total of 21 roads in the city. Wiregrass was the lower of the two bids the city received for the project, as the Dunn Construction Company bid $617,419.
Alabaster City Engineer Brett Tucker said the bid came in close to what the city was estimating, and said work on the repaving projects likely will begin within 30 days. He said the city chose the streets for the project based on the roads’ condition.
Mayor Marty Handlon said funding for the projects primarily will come from the city’s capital project fund.
