Betty Bird, age 84, of Columbiana, passed away Monday, Sept. 19.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Columbiana United Methodist Church with Bro. Pete Grice officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Columbiana City Cemetery.

Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

Betty and her husband, Alvin “Buddy” Bird, Jr. met when they were 16 years old and enjoyed 63 years of marriage. They both attended Shelby High School and graduated with honors. They moved back to Columbiana in 1995 and retired in their family home: The Bird House.

Mrs. Bird is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Nelson “Buddy” Bird, Jr.; parents, Leon and Louise Dorough; son, Kenneth Nelson Bird; daughter, Sharon Joyce Hackney; sister, Mary Ann Thompson; and brother, Sonny Dorough.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Justice Robertson (Joel); grandchildren, Wesley Justice (Jenna) and Lauren Carmichael (Matt); siblings, Patsy McComb, Mike Dorough (Linda), Nancy Moore (Wilburn); and numerous other family and friends.
