PELHAM – Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) will visit Pelham on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. for a Town Hall meeting to be held at Pelham High School’s auditorium.

City Councilman Maurice Mercer said the city started hosting quarterly Town Halls in January 2013 as a way to keep the community informed about local, national and statewide issues.

“We want this to be about the people and getting them information they can utilize,” Mercer said.

The audience will have an opportunity to ask Palmer questions after his address to the public. Palmer represents the state’s Sixth Congressional District, which consists of Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Coosa and Shelby counties and parts of Jefferson County.

“We know that people have work the next day and have kids to tend to, so the Town Hall won’t be any longer than an hour,” Mercer said.

Throughout October, Palmer will speak at seven Town Halls throughout District 6. He will also visit Clay, Homewood, Hoover, Columbiana, Kimberly and Graysville.
