Eureka Coal Mine #2, March 12, 1910. The life of a miner was fraught with dangers. Accidents were frequent, and death was a constant companion. A few years before this photograph was taken, some slate and rock in one of the entries of Eureka #2 had fallen on two miners, killing one and badly injuring the other. Original Ken Penhale.
