Two-vehicle wreck on 280 claims life

NORTH SHELBY – A Pinson woman was killed in a two-vehicle wreck on Saturday, Jan. 29, on U.S. 280 in Shelby County.

Peggy Hollingsworth Blake, 80, was killed when the 2017 Honda Civic she was driving collided with a 2015 Acura TLX at about 5:43 p.m. Jan. 29 about three miles west of Birmingham, according to a press release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Blake was not wearing a seat belt, according to ALEA.

She was transported to Grandview Medical Center, where she later died of her injuries.

The driver of the Acura was not injured.

No further information was available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
