HOOVER – Alcohol will not be served at Carmike Theatres in Hoover—at least for the time being.
Carmike Motion Pictures Birmingham III LLC dropped its applications to the city of Hoover to be able to sell beer and wine at Carmike Theatres in the Village at Lee Branch and Patton Creek.
The Hoover City Council approved the withdrawal of the requests at its meeting on Monday, Feb. 6.
In other business, the council:
•Authorized Mayor Frank Brocato to execute a standard project resolution and maintenance agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation for planning, resurfacing and permanent striping on Shelby County 13 from the Bibb County line to Shelby County 52.
ALDOT would perform the improvements, possibly with help from the Federal Highway Administration, while the city would be responsible for maintenance.
The stretch of road to be improved is 9.5 miles long.
•Approved a change order request from Rabren General Contractors related to the city’s under-construction sports and events facility. The contract amount will decrease by about $6,000 to a total of $2.1 million. A number of factors were included in the change.
•Authorized Brocato to execute a task order agreement with Shelby County and G-Squared LLC for aerial photography and topographic mapping update services not to exceed a cost of $80,000.
