ALABASTER – Westwood Baptist Church, is looking to give local parents some guidance in raising their children to become successful, kind and character-driven adults during an upcoming conference at the church.

Westwood will host the parenting conference, titled “It’s Just a Phase So Don’t Miss It” at its Alabaster campus off Alabaster Boulevard on Saturday, March 18. The event will be held to encourage and remind parents with children ages birth through high school that every stage of a kid’s life matters and every single week counts in shaping their faith, identity and character.

The event agenda will kick off with keynote speaker, James Spann, chief meteorologist for the ABC 33/40 television station, followed by breakout sessions led by guest speakers who specialize in childhood phases and various specialty topics. After lunch, speaker Linc Taylor, next gen pastor at Brentwood Baptist Church will issue a closing challenge to parents.

Cost will be $25 per couple or $15 per person, which includes childcare for children ages 6 weeks through sixth grade and lunch for all. Dress for the event is casual and parents throughout Shelby County and surrounding areas are all invited to attend.

Ric Callahan, Westwood’s Pastor of Families, says it’s important to recognize each stage your child goes through and “Embrace the phase. Enjoy it. It’s significant. And, most of all…don’t miss it.”

The event will take place from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM on March 18th, and will be hosted at 1155 Alabaster Blvd., Alabaster, AL 35007.  Parents can register in advance at Ewestwood.org/parentingconference and may contact the church at 664-0122 with questions.
