FROM STAFF REPORTS

Storms overnight Thursday damaged trees and power lines in Shelby County, causing delays on three roads.

Alabama Power was on the scene at Alabama 25 between Shelby County 55 and Shelby County 5, northeast of Columbiana, as of about 8 a.m. Friday, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Meanwhile, SCSO advised that Old Highway 280 between Mountain Crest Road and Oak Tree Drive in Chelsea could be blocked for an extended period of time while crews worked on the damage.

Also, workers with the Shelby County Highway Department cleared storm damage from Westover Road at Chow Drive.

“Motorists are cautioned to drive slowly and expect delays in these three areas while crews are working,” read a release from SCSO.

All the roads were re-opened to traffic as of the afternoon of Friday, March 10, though continuing work could have caused further lane closures.
