PELHAM – Youth baseball and softball seasons will kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at Pelham City Park.
Parks and recreation director Billy Crandall said 14 teams are set to play that day. About 320 children are enrolled in youth baseball and softball this season, Crandall said.
Prior to the start of the games, each of the teams and their coaches will be introduced.
The kick-off event will feature drawings for prizes from Dick’s Sporting Goods, Golden Rule BBQ, and Geaux Play Sports Training and Fitness. Crandall said Dick’s Sporting Goods is giving away gift cards and Geaux Play is giving free cage rentals.
The games are free to attend, concessions will be available for purchase and the Girl Scouts will be on hand selling cookies.
The season runs until the first or second weekend in May, and then there will be a single elimination tournament with surrounding cities.
