VINCENT – A single-vehicle crash at 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, claimed the life of a 24-year-old Montevallo man, and has led to criminal charges against a 22-year-old Vincent man.
Eric Sean Danford, 24, was killed when the 1996 GMC pickup, in which he was a passenger, left the roadway on Shelby County 467 near Vincent and overturned. Danford, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the GMC left the scene and was later identified as Jake Erskin Burcham, 22, of Vincent. The preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol may have been a factor, according to Alabama State Troopers.
As of April 2, Burcham was being held in the Shelby County Jail on a probation violation charge.
The wreck is still under State Trooper investigation.
