BIRMINGHAM – A 20-year-old Briarwood Christian School graduate died in a single-vehicle wreck on Saturday, April 1.

Travis Hightower of the Shoal Creek community in Birmingham was killed when his 2012 GMC Yukon left Alabama 119 near Boat Launch Road, struck a tree and burst into flames, according to Birmingham Police Department Spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards.

The incident occurred at 11:55 p.m. April 1.

Speed may have been a contributing factor, Edwards said.
