PELHAM – The city of Pelham launched a new and more interactive website on Thursday, April 13.

The city’s new website address is pelhamalabama.gov.

The city set aside $12,500 in its fiscal year 2017 budget to create a new city website, said finance director Tom Seale. City administrator Paula Holly said the new website has a new look and can adjust to the type of mobile device being used to access the site.

The website features a section called Notify Me where residents can sign up to receive notifications regarding information that is important to them. The list of possible notifications include road closures, weather alerts, city office closings, parks and recreation updates, police department updates and community event updates.

“We already have over 1,100 subscribers to the Notify Me section, which is great because its only been up for about a week,” Holly said.

Another section called Report a Claim allows residents to report issues and concerns to the city. Holly said the city can then track the progress on the issue if it’s an ongoing project.

“Residents can also create an account and customize what they want to see on the website,” Holly said. “They can tailor their account to their liking.”

Holly said the city is still focusing on encouraging residents to shop local, which is why the website still includes its Shop Pelham tab. There, residents can find an A-Z list of Pelham businesses.
