Clanton teen killed in Montevallo wreck
MONTEVALLO- Deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency responded to the scene of a car wreck in Montevallo on Monday, June 19 at 7 a.m.
According to a news update from the SCSO, the accident involved one vehicle and occurred on Shelby County 22, west of Shelby County 17.
The ALEA confirmed that a 15-year-old female Clanton resident was killed when the 2005 Jeep Liberty she was driving went off the road and struck several trees at around 4 a.m. The teenager was pronounced dead on the scene
SCSO and ALEA deputies are currently on the scene, and Shelby County 22 is currently closed until the accident scene has been cleared. Motorists are encouraged to find an alternate route and avoid the area due to traffic congestion.
A press release from ALEA stated deputies from both agencies will continue to investigate the accident.
