COLUMBIANA- The South Shelby Chamber of Commerce and the Shelby County Arts Council are teaming up to host the Shelby County Shindig BBQ Cook Off on Main Street in Columbiana from 1 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 15.

South Shelby Chamber Director April Stone said the Shelby County Shindig will provide locals with the opportunity to enjoy live music and vendors and taste barbecue.

According to SCAC Executive Director Bruce Andrews, the tagline for this year’s Shelby County Shindig is “Blues, Brews and BBQ.”

“This is a community building event,” Andrews said. “It’s fun for the entire family.”

Stone said the barbecue cook-off is an informal event with few rules, which will allow more people to participate. Stone said registration for barbecue teams is currently open.

“It’s just an amateur backyard barbecue event,” Stone said. “We just want to have fun.

The live music will be provided by nonprofit organization Magic City Blues Society, and the Chris Simmons Band will play as the headliner. Other artists in the lineup include Diedra the Alabama Blues Queen, Sam Frazier Jr. with the Incredible SGBs and Guitar Earl Williams with his famous Juke Band.

The event will also feature a designated kids area and a Sports Car Cruise-In.

The cost of entry is $5, and the tickets for entry and the barbecue tasting costs $10. Money raised by the Shelby County Shindig will benefit Shelby County Chamber’s scholarship fund and SCAC programs. For more information about the Shelby County Shindig, visit Shelbycountyshindig.com.
