HOOVER – Metro Diner’s newest location celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce on Monday, Aug. 14.

About 35 Chamber members helped cut the ribbon and then sampled the diner’s classic comfort food.

Metro Diner opened at 180 Inverness Plaza on Tuesday, Aug. 8, Joint Venture Partner Todd Ianniello said and added the reception has been positive.

“We’ve heard from a lot of people who said the community needs something like this,” Ianniello said.

Residents from Hoover and surrounding areas have already been in to try the new restaurant.

“We’re about variety,” Ianniello said. “When an office is trying to decide where to go for lunch, we have something for everyone. Someone can get an omelet, and someone else can get a meatloaf plate.”

The 3,636-sq. ft. eatery features dishes made from scratch, award-winning presentations, unique recipes, imaginative twists on old classics and gluten-friendly options.

Metro Diner features all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner, daily blackboard specials with quality ingredients and a scratch kitchen where they make their own sauces, soups and compotes.

In addition, Metro Diner hand cuts their home fries and cracks fresh eggs daily.

Favorites include Fried Chicken and Waffles topped with house-made strawberry butter and signature sweet and spicy syrup, and Charleston Shrimp & Grits, with large portion sizes and most dishes priced under $15.

The diner features seating for 96 guests inside and patio seating for 28 guests outside and is open on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Special pre-opening charity events where all donations benefitted Grace House and the Greater Birmingham Humane Society were held on Aug. 5 and Aug. 6.
