Montevallo man killed in I-65 crash

CALERA – A 66-year-old Montevallo man was killed while standing on the shoulder of Interstate 65 on Sept. 12 after an 18-wheeler struck his parked vehicle.
The crash happened at 7:33 p.m. on Sept. 12 when a 2018 Freightliner driven by 35-year-old Charles McPhillomy III of Killeen, Texas, struck a 2010 Honda Accord belonging to Montevallo resident Bruce Eugene Reynolds about one mile north of Calera on I-65 north.
According to Alabama State Troopers, Reynolds was standing on the shoulder of the interstate near his Honda when the Freightliner struck the vehicle. Reynolds was pronounced dead at the scene, and McPhillomy was not injured.
As of Sept. 14, State Troopers were still investigating the incident.
