PELHAM – The city of Pelham is kicking off the Christmas season with its annual Pelham Community Christmas Tree Lighting on Monday, Nov. 27, at 6:30 p.m.

The event will take place in the newly renovated main arena at the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena. As guests enter the building, they will be greeted with music from the Pelham High School Jazz Band and members of the Beautification Board will pass out Christmas ornaments to the first 1,000 guests.

Inside the main arena guests will be treated to Christmas music from students representing each Pelham school. Members of the Pelham Mite Under 8 Division will showcase their skills and students from the Pelham Skate School and the Birmingham Figure Skating Club will dazzle the audience with performances on ice.

Guests won’t have to worry about their vantage point because a new Jumbo Tron will broadcast students as they perform. In addition to the Jumbo Tron, the arena features new lighting and sound system.

Santa Claus will be available for the city’s youngest residents from 5:30-6:15 p.m. and 7:30-8:45 p.m. The Pelham High School Culinary Arts Program will provide hot cocoa and cookies in the ballroom with Christmas music provided by Blaze Entertainment.

Both of the facility’s ice rinks will feature free ice skating from 7:30-9:00 p.m. Players from the Birmingham Bulls and Alabama’s Frozen Tide will be there to skate with guests and snap a few selfies!

Be sure to bring a camera to capture the memory of your child with Santa.

The Pelham Christmas Tree Lighting is free to the public and sponsored by the city of Pelham and the Beautification Board.
