Edgar Givhan (E.G.) Frost died at the age of 85 on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at his home in Calera, following a long illness.

He was born on June 29, 1932 in Calera, where he was a life-long resident.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Norma Jean Wilson Frost; his parents, Edgar Frost and Elizabeth Lowery Frost; and his sister, Amelia Lum.

He is survived by his son, James Edgar Frost (Jeanise); daughter, Nena F. Sanders (Tommy); five grandchildren, Jill Anna Newton, Kimberly S. Davey (Ian), Janet P. Butler (Jeremy), Kennan Edgar Frost Sanders (Andrea), and James William Givhan Frost; five great-grandchildren, Eva Davey, Kayla Butler, Trevor Butler, and Nora Sanders; two sisters, Dora Grace Frost and Julia Wilson (Hal); and a number of nieces and nephews.

E.G. was known for his love of the outdoors as an avid hunter, fisherman, baseball and golf “coach”, and farmer. His love for his family was immeasurable and he will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He worked at Martin Marietta (Blue Circle) for approximately 40 years and was a veteran of the Korean War.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. with the funeral service held on Friday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home, Montevallo.
