CALERA – Registration is now open to youth boys and girls in the Calera community for spring sports baseball, softball and soccer.

Calera Parks and Recreation is registering for spring sports now through Feb. 3. Parks and Rec clerk Mike Davis said residents can register for each of the sports online at Caleraparkandrec.com.

In-person registration and uniform sizing will take place Tuesday, Jan. 23, and Thursday, Feb. 1, from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 3 from 1-4 p.m.

Evaluations for all sports will take place on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. at the Eagles Sports Complex, which is located at 3176 Shelby County 20. Davis said evaluations serve as a meet and greet for the player, coaches and their families.

“It’s a chance for the players and parents to get an idea of what to expect,” Davis said.

Calera’s youth baseball and softball leagues are for ages 5-12 with a flat fee of $170 for each of the teams. The city has a co-ed T-ball team for 4-year-olds that costs $80.

Youth soccer is for children born in 2004 through 2013. Registration fees vary for soccer – U6 through U8 is $90, U9 through U10 is $100 and U11 through U14 is $120.
