Clara Verlie Owens Brown, 101, of Montgomery, passed Wednesday, Jan. 31.

She was born on Jan. 20, 1917 in Leeds to the late George Sylvester and Dora Ann Owens. She was raised in Titus and married Joe Brown in April 1939. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, proud grandmother, and vivacious great-grandmother.

She was a kindred spirit, sharp minded, witty, and one would never depart her company without a laugh on the way out. Though she will be sorely missed, the family is forever grateful for her long life, and the blessing she was to each life she touched.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Sears Brown; daughter, Paula Jean Brown Ingram; and granddaughter, Angela Dawn Brown.

She is survived by her brother, G.D. Owen; son, Wayne Brown (companion, Rosalie Wilger); grandsons, Mark Wayne Brown and William Eugene (Billy) Ingram; and granddaughters, Jackie Denise Padgett and Julie Nicole Ingram.

She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Madison Olivia Morris, Mason Lane Morris, Reagan Abigail Powell, Gracen Nicole Powell, Jessica Reilee Padgett and Lynnsie Isabel Shimel.

She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives, a host of nieces and nephews and many beloved friends.

The family would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to those providing care for her in recent years including Maplewood Lane Assisted Living, Helena, and Columbiana Health and Rehabilitation, Columbiana.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m.in Chapel Parlor, Leak Memory.

Funeral will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m., followed by graveside committal in Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers to include Mark Brown, Billy Ingram, Mason Morris, Weldon Owen, Stacy Morris, and Bryan Powell.

Honorary Pallbearers include G.D. Owen, Wayne Brown, Bobby Owens, and Bill Foxworth.
